The crew behind the logbook and the saddlebags
Saltsaddletrail started as a shared notebook between friends who kept finding themselves in the same kind of game: a browser tab with a map, a slowly filling queue and a chat full of strangers who became allies. Some of us like ships, some like islands, some like dusty frontier towns. We argued about which was best for long enough that writing it down seemed like the only fair resolution.
We write from Canada, which mostly means two things. Our evenings stretch across several time zones, so we feel the pain of alliance operations scheduled for someone else’s prime time. And our winters are long, which gives us plenty of excuses to commit to a season-long campaign. We play on fresh accounts, keep honest logs and revisit games as they change.
We review only six games, deliberately. A short list lets us play each one for weeks, not hours, and write about the third week rather than the trailer. Every game here earned its place because at least one of us kept logging back in long after the review notes were done. We would rather know six games deeply than a hundred on the surface.
If you play one of these games and think we have something wrong, please write to us. Browser games change, worlds differ and players notice things we miss. Some of our best corrections have come from readers who have lived on a server for years. We read every message and update pages when the evidence is good.
Play the slow weeks, not just the shiny hour
We judge these games on what they feel like after the tutorial ends, when queues lengthen and neighbours notice you. That is where most players decide whether to stay, so it is where our reviews spend their time.
Name only what we have seen
Mechanics in our reviews come from play or from the publisher’s own pages. Where details vary by world or season, we describe the experience rather than invent a figure we cannot stand behind.
Rank first, links after
Our order comes from scores and argument at the desk. Partner links help fund the hours behind each review, and they follow the ranking without ever setting it.
